Other Available Courses
The Mastering Aboriginal Inclusion two-day workshop brings to life the content of its five-part self-study module series and also provides practical human resource assistance and advice to companies that want to explore and introduce Aboriginal employment and inclusion strategies. These training sessions are also designed to kick-start corporate inclusion efforts by encouraging corporate leaders and human resources practitioners to become ‘agents of change’ in their own organizations. Common Core is the mining industry’s term used to describe the complete modular training program that was developed for the Ontario mining industry. The internationally recognized Ontario Common Core modules have now been modified to become Yukon-specific. The Common Core for Mill Processor has been completed and will be available for Industry use soon.
YMTA has, in consultation with Industry and YWCB, developed a generic certification program for first line supervisors in the mining and resource-related industries. Supervisor training is essential to the management of a safe work place.
As of July 1, 2009 a regulation requiring crane operators to meet specific training requirements and demonstrate competency in the operation of mobile and articulating boom cranes came into effect in Yukon. The YMTA is working with Klondike Placer Miners’ Association (KPMA) to deliver Crane Certification Training to Placer Miners, Yukon residents and First Nations.
