About YMTA

The Yukon Mine Training Association (YMTA) is a partnership between the Yukon's mining industry and First Nations. We are committed to working together to maximize employment opportunities emerging from the growth of the mining and related resource industries in the North for First Nations and other Yukoners.   The YMTA also ensures that safety training is developed and delivered, meeting industry standards. 


Employment Opportunities with YMTA

TRAINING LIAISON WORKER(S)

$22/hour (Up to $40,000/year)

YMTA seeks four energetic, community focused individuals with excellent organizational skills to work in one of four regions of Yukon to provide a link between communities, industry, training providers and the YMTA. The individual will be responsible for providing access and assistance in the development and delivery of various YMTA funded training programs related to the mining and resource related industries.

The four regions we are recruiting for include the communities and areas surrounding:
1. North: Dawson City, Old Crow, Mayo, Pelly Crossing, Carmacks, Stewart Crossing
2. Central: Whitehorse, Haines Junction, Burwash Landing, Destruction Bay, Beaver Creek, Champagne/Aishihik
3. S.W.: Atlin Lake, Carcross/Tagish, Swift River, Teslin
Ideally, candidates will be of First Nations ancestry and reside in one of the regions listed above.

Skills required include:

  • Some postsecondary education in community support/social work/counselling.
  • Proficient computer (Excel, MS Word, internet/email, database entry) and writing skills.
  • 3-4 years experience working with Yukon communities and First Nations.
  • Instructing/teaching background an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Applicants must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to various communities within their region.

Training will be provided to successful candidates.
